[ ... ] In your later reply you were helped by debian-u...@howorth.org.uk to have recalled the MS application called MS-Word. I had used it too till 2008. It was called "show/hide Corrections" that had to be activated from the Options menu. It would strike through (not underline) changed lines/words and mark the corrected parts in red.
