It is problematic when "or not at all" is a disclosure. When a potential employer in Germany asks an applicant in a job interview an impermissible question (e.g. about pregnancy, religion, sexual orientation or previous convictions), the job applicant has the legal right to tell a lie. Can Debian force GSoC contributors to disclose AI assistance when a GR states that we "do not require them to do so"? I was quite surprised that disclosing AI usage has not been considered a minimum requirement in this GR discussion. > Again, this sounds like it's very close to the status quo today, at > least to me. This might be true if you are talking only about what maintainers are doing with their own packages. But there are many other ways to contribute to Debian.[1] ~ 99% of my uploads are NMUs. Would it be OK today to upload NMUs without disclosing AI usage? AI generated contributions to our wiki do not have to be disclosed with this GR option. Knowing whether one is talking with a human or an AI is something I consider essential, and for me the status quo today is that contributing AI generated emails without disclosing the AI usage is not OK. > - Ted cu Adrian [1] https://www.debian.org/intro/help
