I'm not completey sure the data transfered for CVS clone or disk space used for CVS clone is relevant. The point is that translators don't have a full checkout of CVS when they have resource issues: Me myself had for years and years only english and german subdirectory checked out and ignored all the other languages on my harddisk. That is one of the core points why CVS is really really helpful and useful for translators with not so well connected networks or older harddisks - which is not so uncommon in lesser developed countries where translations are much more valueable than over here to reduce the barrier. And the disk space for CVS clone is almost nearly just the files themself. The metadata in the CVS subdirectory is four files, two of them with just one line, one with a line for every file/subdirectory including timestamp/revision of the files. That's of not relevant size in comparison to any other VCS, like svn has the whole working copy a second time in the .svn subdirectory (to be able to produce offline diffs) and git has also the complete objects including history in the .git subdirectory). I doubt you'll get any relevant data from counting in the CVS subdirectory metadata. :) Please don't fall into such details, I've heard people willing to ship harddisk around for those who don't have enough diskspace for a full checkout - but that doesn't solve the network issues and is rather short sighted.
