I don't run SmarterMail so can someone explain what a "sub-spool" is and why its beneficial?

I've honestly never found a need to use the sub-spools. What is your definition of high volume? I can tell you that you need to be careful with domain aliases on SmarterMail. They are treated as outgoing for junkmail processing.
