Well, Lazarus/FreePascal. Yes, I know it's not a "delphi version", but it's
delphi-code compatible AND cross platform. And OpenSource. And free. (that
should also suffice as to "why", IMHO)
Delphi's definetely too bulky nowadays, and besides - it's becoming
"obsolete": Borland is not going to support it any more (see the list's
archives, there was a *huge* discussion on this). Why bother with Delphi,
when there's a free, open-source and cross-platform alternative anyway?
And yes, I know this sounds almost like an advert for Lazarus, and no, it's
not, as I am not involved in that project (I just use it, and thank the Deity
for it). And yes, off-course it has some bugs (minor) and drawbacks, and
quircks, but what software doesn't?
