We have an NT 4 workstation (with Service Pack 4) acting as a server with a STRANGE!!
problem.
Print jobs are occasionally being deleted immediately (like the same second) after
being sent successfully to the printer queue, but before actually being printed.
We have eliminated all but the printer driver and NT as the culprit. HELP!! The
printer is an Axiohm A714 POS printer using an Axiohm mini-printer driver. What could
be unique about this is that two printer jobs are sent at the same time (within
milliseconds), each to it's own printer (there are two printers in the restaurant
kitchen, one to COM1 and one to COM2).
It happens whether it's busy or quiet and is reported usually at the beginning of
shift (ie, lunch or dinner) - this could be a red herring.
We have just rebuilt a complete new installation of NT 4 and Service Pack 4 with no
frills and no other software apart from our own - InterBase 5 and a Delphi 3
application (which sends print jobs with Printer.BeginDoc and Printer.EndDoc etc
functions).
Printer settings for COM1 and COM2 are default. We wonder if it would help to change
Flow Control to Hardware from XOn/XOff ??
