The 5.01 Update is very handy. Basically it takes a look at what ever BDE
is installed, and does the neccesary parts correctly. So it covers every
possible situation. You dont have to worry what you are upgrading from.
Take note that it only upgrades and does not add or remove any BDE
components, so if you dont have SQL Links already, or Datapump, then the
Upgrade does not add it.

All I can say to you Mark, is that it does the upgrade absolutley correctly,
and all you have to do is deliver the upgrade to your customers and tell
them to double click on it and follow the instructions. You will get the
result you want - a happy customer. Take the opporunity to dress the upgrade
up a bit to your customers, and you might even be able to get a little PR
value out of the exercise.

I mean, why all the fuss about a few megs? Its the result that counts. So
you spend a few $ downloading it, but how long will it take you to make your
own custom install and test it? Or to go to each customer site with your D5
CD and install it from there? The component you really want - a ready made
BDE5 install utility does not exist as far as I know.

Perhaps this is influenced by the Borland Policy that you only get SQL links
with the CS version of Delphi, hence anybody developing with a lower version
is supposed tpo be crippled from ever being able to upgrade anybody's BDE to
Include SQL Links.

One way or another this upgrade will cost you a little, and for me the
Upgrade is the cheapest easiest out.

Cheers,

Tony.

Yes.... but the Wise installation size reported WAS for the WHOLE 32 bit
BDE --
I thought. Is that not correct?
