A Christchurch Delphi Users group would be great from my perspective, but
unfortunately I may not have a lot to contribute until I have learnt at
least the basics - which hopefully won't be to far away. I am a reasonably
quick learner and have programming knowledge, just not in any OO languages.
The way I (and a lot of others I imagine) learn quickest is to watch others,
and then go and play myself. So, yes I think a Chch User Group would be
great!

In regards to the different courses you mentioned, my biggest problem I need
a part time course rather than full time. The only place I found that offers
these are the polytech, and they are not running any this year. I have
ordered myself a copy of Marco Cantu's Mastering Delphi 5 book, and I plan
to sit down and work my way through. What I would be interested in is, if
there was anyone who would be willing to hire themselves out for an hour or
two at different times when I get stuck, please contact me.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to my initial email, it has been greatly
appreciated.

Regards, Glenn

The Christchurch Delphi Users Group has been inactive for some time. I (and
others) used to run this. Do Christchurch people want to see it resurrected?
If so, contact me and we can sort something out.

Regarding learning Delphi, careerLink COLLEGE do a one year, full-time
Programming & Analysis course that incorporates Delphi among other
languages/environments.

Electec College do a similar one year course.

Other courses, some short-term are offered from time to time at Polytech.

You could get a few people together and have a custom-designed course taught
part-time. I have sometimes done this for various groups or organisations.
Contact me here or at careerLink COLLEGE (377-2364) and we can discuss
possibilities if you wish.

Other than that, the other suggestions regarding purchasing a good book,
Delphi, and putting in a bit of work is probably the best option.
