Well, SQL Sever at least uses the MAC address on your network
card (if you've got one) when it's generating GUIDs.
Here's an amusing game to play: run winipcfg or ipconfig to find out
your MAC address. Scan your registry for it to find out how many
things you've installed have decided to store that little bit of
information without telling you. Some versions of word and excel
embed it into every document you write.
