I use GNU GetText for Delphi as well. It can take a few hours going through all the source searching out all the text enclosed in quotation marks and placing it in a function call, but it does all the DFM stuff for you with a function you call in the FormCreate event of every form.
The executable doesn't need to change to add new translations. The translations are stored in external files by default, although they can be embedded if required. You can give poEdit to a user and they can make their own translation without you being involved. Ross. Wouldn't say it is perfect, we haven't tried anything else outside of a bit of testing so I can't really compare. However we have it beaten into shape now and it doesn't require replacing everything with resource strings (we have rather large apps with 5000+ strings in them!). Cheers, David. Basically what i did was i moved all the strings to resource files. And then used Multilser to does the converstion. Yeah sometiems it gives weired meaning when i tried converting to languages like Hebrew . But It For french it worked alright for me. And to convert to resource string model maker proved handy too for me.. The main app ini specifies which language to use at runtime. For this app we were mainly only asked to translate the data and the reports, not so much the UI. I Think this has been a subject a few times before, but unfortunitly I didnt really retain anything about it because it didnt apply at the time.....hehehe...and of course now it does :-) I have had a requst to translate my application from English to German, then to French maybe. I downloaded the trial of Sisulizer and Multilizer with the, as it now turns out, misunderstanding that they did the translation, when infact they only appear to give you a list of the strings in your app and a column for you to put the translations into or export the strings into a file that you send off somewhere. I thought to myself, if thats all, then why dont I just use resource strings and Googlaes translation tool? The specifics of grammer etc. from the translation will be done by someone anyway, so thats not an issue. I am keen to know what others do in this situation.
