The current overlay checkboxes next to the collections are nice, but they are so cute that they are not obvious. I would suggest a more traditional looking checkbox i.e. google calendar (though ideally not as plain looking as gCal). Similarly, for this drop down menu feature, the idea that there is something clickable has to have incredibly strong visual cues. As with everything, it needs to be artistic, but not at all subtle. If necessary, to support being visually obvious, using slightly more horizontal or vertical space as the default for collections is not a bad thing. The standard display today is >1000 pixels, and collections are the anchor of chandler, so making this area highly attention getting and obvious in every way would be well worth it. Oh, and one more thing. The collections area should be labeled above. If you are going to introduce new nomenclature you need to support it strongly. Labeling the area is helpful, along with a rollover on the word that helps explain it. As I see it, you have: in out trash, show all (and potentially show items in no collection, though this doesnt seem possible now) Then you have a separate area labeled collections and you have your colored collections, i.e. COLLECTIONS fun work personal etc. Oh, one more thing. I havent said anything positive yet. Here goes. This software is usable now. It just needs to polish these UI things and you really have a product. The only bad thing is that people are now so web focused that chandler hub is going to become the preferred tool to use and so it needs to be as cool as chandler is. But I am officially going to try using chandler as a task management tool for me and my team. We will see how that goes.
