+1 on putting a "Collections" label above the collections. I don't think
we're so starved for vertical space (at least in the Web UI) that we
can't afford this kind of basic labeling.
If we're serious about good user experience (esp. for new or technically
naive users), this would be an obvious improvement to make.

If you are going to introduce new nomenclature you need to support it
strongly. Labeling the area is helpful, along with a rollover on the
word that helps explain it. As I see it, you have:
