Honestly, any solution that looked like either of these would be fine. http://www.fleegix.org/demo/floss_usability_2007/proto_1.html http://www.fleegix.org/demo/floss_usability_2007/proto_2.html Whether its an eyeball or a check box is very minor. Personally, my only issue is that fixing the status quo is "too hard" or not that important. --- R E C A P --- Since there have been so many emails I will just concisely re-state the issues that inhibit by use and understanding.. 1. The collection sidebar UI. The solution is either of the above UIs above. 2. Separating view from filter. 3. Triage. Does not communicate anything meaningful unless you ship the GTD book with the software. 4. Add menu buttons next to each collection to move the actions directly to the collections. 5. Supporting collections in the Table view I didnt notice this before but the user testing that OSAF has done seems to support all of these issues as being problems. Resisting user testing results is rarely healthy. Finally, from John's comments, I take it most if not all of these, are not particularly hard. Hank P.S. I still challenge anyone to tell me what happens when the user selects "Calendar" in the "View" menu. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Open Source Applications Foundation "Design" mailing list http://lists.osafoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/design
