[Third attempt to comment, why is it not accepting my post with screenshot attachment? On 2nd attempt I said "web ui lost my comment when I clicked Post, possibly due to local Permission Denied for Firefox loading the attachment? Looks like some other bug."]
In hopes of proving the bug to be independent of my existing setup, I started a fresh user on the same machine. 1. sudo adduser tmp 2. ctrl-alt-f1, switch users. (first attempt failed, looks like some other bug) 3. open xterm, set reverse video for lighter screenshot later 4. change desktop background for lighter screenshot later 5. enable Visual Alerts "entire window" 6. set screen blanking 1 minute, no password lock (repeating requests on tmp's screen to authenticate as main user to update privacy settings, looks like some other bug) 7. set the BEL stream 8. wait 1 minute, screen blanks 9. wake it up, see the rectangle, take a screenshot The monitor you mention for my main user is not connected, I'm only using the lid-screen now. It's just a setting remembered for later.
