  Summary

On Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with GNOME Shell 50.1 running under Wayland, the
GNOME top bar remains visible when launching World of Warcraft through
  Battle.net/Lutris in Windowed (Fullscreen) mode.

  The issue is 100% reproducible.

An upstream report has already been opened against GNOME Mutter:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/work_items/4911

  System information

  Distribution

  Ubuntu 26.04 LTS

  Desktop

  GNOME Shell 50.1

  Session

  Wayland

  Hardware

Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 AMD
  AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 8640HS
  AMD Radeon 760M Graphics (RADV)
  Mesa 26.0.3-1ubuntu1
  Internal display (1920×1200 @ 60 Hz)
  Software
  Lutris 0.5.22 (.deb package)
  Gamescope 3.16.20
  GE-Proton (UMU runtime)
  Battle.net
  World of Warcraft Classic
  Steps to reproduce
Log into an Ubuntu Wayland session.
  Launch Battle.net from Lutris.
  Launch World of Warcraft.
  Open Graphics settings.
  Select Windowed (Fullscreen).
Use the native display resolution (1920×1200).
  Return to the game.
  Expected result

The GNOME top bar should automatically hide while the game occupies the
  entire display.

  Actual result

The GNOME top bar remains permanently visible above the game.

The game renders correctly but does not cover the top panel.

  Additional observations

Switching the game to Fullscreen hides the GNOME top bar correctly.

However, this display mode causes input/UI issues, making it unusable.

The issue only affects Windowed (Fullscreen) mode.

  Troubleshooting performed

The problem has been reproduced after testing:

  Lutris Flatpak
  Lutris native (.deb)
  GE-Proton
  UMU runtime
  DXVK enabled
  VKD3D enabled
  Esync enabled
  Fsync enabled
  GameMode enabled

The behavior is identical in every configuration.

  Gamescope comparison

Launching the exact same game through Gamescope correctly hides the
  GNOME top bar.

Gamescope is not required to reproduce the issue; it is only used as a
  comparison.

  GNOME Extensions

The issue is reproducible with the default Ubuntu session.

Disabling all non-default GNOME extensions does not change the behavior.

  Upstream report

This issue has already been reported upstream to the GNOME Mutter
  developers:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/work_items/4911

If this is confirmed as an upstream Mutter issue, this Launchpad report
can be linked to the upstream report for tracking within Ubuntu.

  Reproducibility

  Always (100%).
