One of the discussions that came up during and after last week's
KDE-on-OpenSolaris presentation is better integration between
desktops like KDE & GNOME and the features of the OpenSolaris OS.

An easy example was making the file manager work with both ZFS &
CIFS ACL's, or showing ZFS pool/volume state in the file manager.
Showing notification area popups for FMA-detected faults also seems
relatively simple.

A hard one I've wanted before but never had time to do anything about
was making the login manager (dtlogin/gdm/etc.) a true SMF delegated
restarter, so that the Xserver SMF service would actually be visible
via SMF, instead of just a configuration settings repository.

But what else would you want to see in either or both desktops
to take better advantage of the features of the underlying OS?

Off the top of my head, features found in OpenSolaris/Solaris, but
not all the other OS'es these run on include:
  - ZFS
  - RBAC
  - DTrace
  - Solaris CIFS server/client
  - SMF
  - BrandZ
  - Zones
  - FMA
  - xVM/Xen/LDoms

Topics for discussion: What others have I forgotten? What could
we do in a desktop to better expose/integrate/take advantage of
these?
