Hi Joel, Thanks for the detailed mail! This may be a case of SO broke on CUPS seems fairly old version. There is a newer version of CUPS 1.3.6 going into nevada 87, the hard work of the printing group, Norm, Wendy etc may help.
I don't know whether there is an option for SO to disable that like the case of Firefox. Some StarOffice engineers on the list care to comment? -Ghee Joel Buckley wrote: > Ghee, > > Sun Solaris[tm] 11 snv_70b X86. > SUNWstaroffice-base 8.0.0,REV=106.2005.05.26 > > I created the queue via CUPS/Foomatic originally with > Sun JDS (Linux) + CUPS and then migrated to Sun > Solaris[tm] 11 snv_37 X86 + SFWcups > 1.1.21,REV=2005.01.05.17.04 + Foomatic + Gutenprint > and then to snv_55b... > > CUPS has both a frontend (web interface + filetype > determination + filters) and a backend (ps to printer > drivers). > CUPS frontend trusts nothing and sends all postscript > input thru a pstops filter....intending to fix non-standard > postscript files, but actually corrupting valid postscript > files...
