Yes it's fine, I just try and keep on top of threads which there hasn't
been a response on, even if my answer isn't the best.

Perhaps it is really an issue with tracking file events (Which is more
or less polled) causing strain on the desktop performance.

If you're keeping track of releases per build (Or even every other) it
can be extremely time consuming and wearing on hardware. For general
developers, who replace components until it is critically necessary to
update the whole sink, it is certainly not an issue. IPS GUI is the
slowest application I have ever used on any system in my computing
history, it loves sucking out clock cycles and it draws the text
extremely slow, but it now works when you click the install button and
doesn't bomb out when resolving dependencies, which is a much better
experience than with B98.

I'm more concerned with heat (My laptop is 0.9" thick with a 2.4GHz C2D
T7700, it gets to a point where my palms feel uncomfortable) but it
seems to work when enabled (Reboot seems to be required, probably some
SMF services shuffling around) as kstat cpu_info reports hz at 8 million
(800mhz, CPU min), whilst it typically runs at 24 million at full
throttle (2400MHz, CPU max) Suspend/resume seems to work, but
USB/internal devices do not wake it, only the power button, but it's
certainly much better than I would had expected as the current out of
the box support targets specific units which Sun has in-house, such as
Acer Aspire and Thinkpad T60, probably Acer Ferrari and Vaio as well,
though I'm unsure since the list hasn't been updated in a month or so.

When (if) Sun releases OpenSolaris 2008.11 (Maybe 2009.4 depending on
flag days and integration schedules) things will be better for you. The
current releases are chalk full of flags and extra options which won't
be there with a tested release. (This is a generalization, since it
varies on project, but I'm mainly speaking of ON, JDS and X.org)
