No problem. :) At the very least there's some life in here... given that
OpenSolaris so far generally makes quite a fine desktop, I just hope for
some more traffic around here then and now...

At least I could imagine file polling having an impact on file system
performance in general... I will try whether this is reproducible on my
system...

I haven't so far ever gotten anything installed using the IPS GUI. Feel
kinda home with the command line 'pkg' even though, this seems the very tool
to use for me. Asides this I indeed tend to do an image-upgrade this way
once in a while, both to see whether it works and (well, too...) to avoid
the installation procedure... ;) Not sure what's different, but installing
the Ubuntu live filesystem is pretty much faster here... ZFS?

Aaah I see. :) Given I work attached to a docking station most of the time
this is not too much of an issue indeed in my case... Used to have an old
Acer a while ago, though, which suffered from the same problem in Linux,
wasn't that pleasant running an appserver and an IDE and eventually a db
server, giving load to the machine... ;)

I will keep an eye on things for sure... Do you expect that much of a delay
on OS2008.11? Seems rather strong, and yet I'd prefer a stable to an early
release. So far however, at the very least, OpenSolaris does well work with
my beamer so it's good when visiting customers once in a while... :]
