@Hark I tried to install oss, and that results in a weird behavior:
the volume control icon in gnome panel is crossed, and when I try to open it, it gives the error: "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found." Anyhow running osstest gives: ~$ osstest Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.1 (b 1051/200812302228) (0x00040100) Platform: SunOS/i86pc 5.11 snv_101b *** Scanning sound adapter #-1 *** /dev/oss/oss_ich0/pcm0 (audio engine 0): Intel ICH (2415) - Performing audio playback test... <left> OK <right> OK <stereo> OK <measured srate 47974.00 Hz (-0.05%)> *** All tests completed OK *** Anyhow, I can't hear a sound. This happens the first time the command is run If I run the command again I get: ~$ osstest Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.1 (b 1051/200812302228) (0x00040100) Platform: SunOS/i86pc 5.11 snv_101b *** Scanning sound adapter #-1 *** /dev/oss/oss_ich0/pcm0 (audio engine 0): Intel ICH (2415) - Performing audio playback test... /dev/oss/oss_ich0/pcm0: Device busy Can't open the device *** Some errors were detected during the tests *** The machine is configured with the ICH AC97 audio device. @waynel :( As a matter of fact I couldn't find much googling for info on the topic. Anyway I will try to also on the Vbox forums Thank you, Francesco -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
