Francesco, OSS drivers don't get attached in kernel the first time. Try rebooting the machine, then pkgrm the oss package and pkgadd it again. It should work then, hopefully. Regarding the crossed volume control icon, that's due to GNOME not recognizing OSS drivers well.
You can configure gnome to use Esound output, run /usr/lib/esd & (the process has to remain backgrounded, check if it fails and run it again) and log in again to get gnome volume control back. The real question is - how wine behaves when oss drivers are in place? Cheers Hark P.S. Latest virtualbox releases contain pieces of Wine code for Direct3D. There may be some clash here too. Anyhow, asking vbox guys is wise move.
