In my opinion this fix would be a nice-to-have, and not a requirement.
Our ARC Stability requirements, to my understanding (which could be
wrong, mind you), is that since Nevada has not yet shipped we can
change an interface like this without being backwards compatible with
previous versions of Nevada.

Yes, "fixing this" would make the transition easier for a few users,
mostly people internal to Sun.  But it probably wouldn't benefit many
people.  I would bet most users who use GDM with Nevada probably have
already upgraded to a vermillion build (or the GNOME 2.12 build
available via the OpenSolaris spec files) and have already fixed the
problem manually.

We should bring this issue up in our GNOME 2.14 ARC materials and
see what ARC thinks we should do here, and we can do whatever they
think makes the most sense.
