Good idea... we surely would help the community improve software abroad if
the upstream maintainers were more aware of our own progress.

GNOME (Desktop, Evolution, GTK+, GIMP)
Mozilla (Firefox)
OpenOffice.org

Desktop Development:
OpenJDK
Netbeans
GCC
Python/PHP/Perl
