I've just installed OpenSolaris x86-64 build 76 on my PC and have built fvwm2 from source and I can run this successfully from a Gnome desktop with the -replace option. But I would like to add fvwm2 to the main X-login screen as an option along with the existing CDE and Gnome desktop environments so that it appears in the 'Session' options list. But I can't see how or where these options are configured - several people in this list have said that OpenSolaris uses the gdm X display manager but this doesn't seem to be running on my installation - running /usr/sbin/gdmsetup results in an error message saying gdm is not running and that I might be using KDE (kdm) or CDE's display manager (dtlogin) instead. Is this correct?
Also, in a message on this topic last year (see http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/desktop-discuss/2007-April/009705.html), it was suggested that creating a fvwm2.desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions was all that was required but this doesn't put the fvwm2 option into the login session options list. Any help would be appreciated. Andy
