New to this, so please bear with me.

Going crazy trying to install from "Live CD" image (osol-0906-x86.iso),
snv_111b.

System is an HPxw4600 Workstation, Core 2 Quad, 2.4GHz, 6GB RAM, NVidia
GEForce,
Viewsonic VG910b LCD. No KVM in use - Sun USB Keyboard, HP USB Mouse. Network
comes up fine via DHCP.

Grub starts. Regardless of what option I choose, I get console login. Prior to
running fdisk and blowing away the Ubuntu image on the local HD, ran the
Detection Tool and all was well.

(Documentation bug?):
>From the Getting Started doc
(http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/2009.06/getstart/sliminstall.html):
***************************************************************************
# Insert the Live CD, then boot the system.

Make sure to select the boot from CD option when the GRUB menu is displayed.

****************************************************************************

No such option - but any options gets me to the same console login.

Tried starting Xorg from console, and it starts but I get no terminals and have
to kill X with Ctrl-Alt-Bkspc.

Can't run /usr/bin/gui-install - receive the following:
ld.so.1: gui-install: fatal: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: unknown file type
Killed

Which seems mighty strange, since I'm running off the CD (all boot options give
the same error). Tried running /usr/bin/gui-install from an X-enabled ssh
session, same error (not surprisingly). Same results with all options as user
"jack" or as root.

Is this "Live CD" buggy? It's gonna be mighty tough to shout down the Linux
evangelists here when just about any distro of Linux installs effortlessly on
any hardware we have here, but OpenSolaris chokes even when running from
removable media.

Is there an option for a console-driven CLI install? The current Doc referenced
above only offers options (which fail) for a GUI-driven installation.

Thanks...
