Hi Brian,

I appreciate the very detailed answer.  You answered all my questions, 
and then plus some.  I'm going to apply what you have pointed out and 
read the man gdm pages more thoroughly.  I'm sorry I sounded previously 
like a grouch.  I guess it was like sticker shock, gdm is the first 
thing you see, and it changed dramatically.  Well, this is the 
Opensolaris development version, so it's work in progress and I'm sure 
it's going to improve.
