why not simply let the comunity devel firefox os for smartphone as a
totally open source project in MDN house?

do you think there isn't interest on this lovely OS? :-)

why?

please don't drop everything, I think a web based os of for
smartphones, which are one of the most pervasive media out there, and
others consumer stuff (tv, tablet, etc...) is a great thing. Built upon
a standadized WEB api... I saw this as a great idea, and I like it and
appreciate it.

Ok, smartphone market is leaded by iOS and android, but with a little
more effort and time Firefox OS may grow up. Today, web technologies,
javascript and others storically 'client-side' goodies coming to
'server-side' (es. nodejs with REST and JSON API) supported by other
interesting pieces (es. dockers), a web os seems to me an important
step for a pervasive web environment.

just my 2 cents :-)

best regards,
