One can even thing of splitting Gaia (whose existence can be justified without Firefox OS) from Gonk + Gecko (which can, as you mention, be used as a platform for experimenting with alternative web-based OSes). > > If on the other hand we're just dropping everything and walking > away then there would be no point in maintaining it as nobody will > be able to pick up the project without help and support from within > Mozilla. I certainly hope that we're not dropping *everything*. For one thing, I heard people mentioning home-grown projects based on Firefox OS. I don't know where they are heading, and yes we probably need to debrand it back to Browser OS or something such, but they will still need the documentation if they want to go anywhere. For a second thing, we're still working on Firefox OS for SmartTV, right? So we sill need documentation (among other things). Finally, I'm waiting a little to see if our Innovation Process doesn't come up with new ideas of things to do with the Firefox OS codebase. In other words, I agree with your earliest suggestion to wait until we have some clarity.
