Edwin, That error message (provided by the registry) means that the IP address (or hostname) is already "taken" at the registry level. For example, 64.173.182.158 is being used by NS2.REALPROGRAMMERS.COM and 64.173.182.155 is being used by DNS.GUEY.NET
Currently the registry only allows one to one mapping of IPs to hostnames. Note that they are changing this policy, and you'll be able to have multiple hostnames using the same IP (DNS Virtual Hosting? *yay*) after their next maintenance cycle (current one scheduled for January 19th 2002) Charles Daminato OpenSRS Product Manager Tucows Inc. - [EMAIL PROTECTED] > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On > Behalf Of Edwin Culp > Sent: January 2, 2002 11:04 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Cc: Zeljko Dimic > Subject: Re: nameserver ip change misunderstanding > > > I hope everyone had great holidays and I wish you all the best for 2002. > > I am having problems with nameservers that I had registered with NetSol. > I've decided that the easiest solution would be to create new nameservers > with tucows/opensrs.
