And the AMO description of that add-on urges people to get involved in the bug and discussions about the change because the author vows to drop support for the add-on if the tabs on bottom option is removed. This makes it hard to know whether the people in the discussions represent a general segment of Firefox users or represent the users of that add-on.

Even among users of that add-on it's unlikely they are using it for that one feature since that feature is available without that add-on. So are they protesting the removal of the feature because they like it, or because without it they lose other things they like about the add-on ("colorful" is mentioned a lot).
