Is anyone able to do the beta button I described.

If not then a link would do at least.

But I think we require a clear and direct indicator on our homepage
before we can start counting down the beta period.

Such clear advertising of a beta is common for Eclipse, Netbeans and
Java itself to ensure that users do see the beta and get involved with
testing. I think we should do the same.
