Right. However little fee should not be a to big problem ...
OTOH, thinking at the time that I started my company, an extra €100,- to pay wouldn't have been so easy ...

2 - it's always easier to pay for something rather than to do something (to contribute per exemple ;-) )
Definitely. But some even like it more when they don't paying nor contribute.

3 - who will have the money, for what ?
That's safe in hands of the CC, since they work on that process. Isn't it?

Perhaps it's possible to mention in the directory if a company participates to the OOo community. In France, I sometime loose businesses because of the price against compagnies that never participate.
OK, but paying €100,- a year will not make your work more expensive ... Spending lots of extra time to the community possibly does.

But your idea, to see if it is possible to indicate if / how much a company does participate, is a good one. Maybe not that easy ... A fair indication would be the ratio hours spent/total hours worked by employees. I mean: for a firm with 2 people, it's more difficult to spent 100 hrs a year than it is for a big company to spend a thousand.

About the fee: we should keep that as well IMO. It is a little barrier for people not to have themselves listed to easily.

Cor
