Quick question for the members of the group.
Other then offering training, is anyone here actually making any money
with OpenOffice.org?
If yes - what are you doing?
Did you write a vertical market application that uses OpenOffice.org?
Do you offer translation services? ( MSO to OOo )
In spring 2004 my firm started, to offer services for OpenOffice.org.
For about 3+ years that is OK to earn a living for me & family.
Activities roughly 45% training, the rest new applications (extensions)
for within OOo, and migrations from existing MsO (-calling) apps. and
advices.
Currently my firm is responsible for the majority of OpenOffice.org
support in my country. About 50% of the work is profit, 25
not-for-profit and 25 administration.
So far the good news. The not so good news is, that total market volume
in Netherlands is small, so most of the work I do on my own... and
occasionally with partners.
But with a gradually growing market share, that picture might improve as
well.
Ciao,
Cor
