If a release of Avatica is required before Calcite 1.41.0, I am happy to be RM for Avatica 1.27.0.

Hello Ruben,

I’d like to add CALCITE-6239 and CALCITE-6263 addressed in [1] to the list. The
PR improves support for PostGIS. I think it is in relatively good shape, but
I’m still waiting for a feedback regarding the coupling to Java Topology Suite
[2] before merging.

Hi Ruben,
thanks for volunteering to be the RM for 1.41.0!

I am adding CALCITE-7163
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-7163> [1] to the list, which
just upgrades Sonar plugin for Gradle, hoping that the many improvements
will alleviate the Sonar failures we have seen in CI for quite some time
now.

Best regards,
Alessandro

Subject: Re: [DISCUSS] Towards Calcite 1.41.0

Hi Ruben,
Thank you very much for taking the time to serve as the RM for version
1.41.0! I’d like to share some information I’ve gathered for your
reference. I feel that CALCITE-7122 and CALCITE-7160 should be relatively
easy to resolve within a few days. CALCITE-7070 might be more tricky, as it
seems no consensus has been reached yet. CALCITE-5094 appears mostly ready
but depends on Avatica. Since the prerequisite PR has already been merged
into Avatica, it looks like we just need to wait for a new release of
Avatica to complete this task.

Best,
Zhen Chen

Thanks Stamatis for refloating this and for volunteering for 1.43; I can
take care of 1.41:
1.41.0: Ruben QL
1.42.0: ?
1.43.0: Stamatis Zampetakis
1.44.0: ?
It would be nice to have some more volunteers to fill the remaining spots.

Regarding 1.41 schedule: looking at the dashboard [1] it seems there's only
4 pending tickets, all of them with PR available, so hopefully we could
finalize the scope rather soon.
Are there any other tickets that should be part of 1.41?

I'd propose to try to finalize pending tickets in the next couple of weeks,
and prepare the first RC around 20th of September, to try to get the new
release by the end of the month; how does it sound?

Best regards,
Ruben

It is indeed a good time to start pushing for the 1.41.0 release.

It appears that we don't have a RM yet but we can still continue the
discussion about the tickets that we would like to go in. Is there
anything in particular that we would like to merge before cutting the
first release candidate?

In the meantime if someone wants to serve as RM please speak up. It's
the first time after a while that we don't have anyone in the list of
volunteers so let's try to fix this.
1.41.0: ?
1.42.0: ?
1.43.0: Stamatis Zampetakis
1.44.0: ?

Best,
Stamatis

Hello,

It's been approximately 3 months since our last release [1]; if we want
to
keep our release rhythm, I think we should start the discussions to
produce
a 1.41 in the next month or so.

If I am not mistaken, our next release managers would be [2]:
- Hongyu Guo
- Jing Zhang
@Hongyu, Jing: Are you still available to serve as RM in the short/mid
term?

Are there other volunteers who would like to join the RM list?

Best regards,
Ruben
