Hope you are doing well...

I use the following settings:
export MAVEN_OPTS="-Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m"
and it works great (I updated the WIKI and added the " signs).

You should run a
mvn clean install
or
mvn clean install -DskipTests
in the Camel root directory.

If it doesn't work for you, there must be something wrong on your site.
Which Java/Maven version do you use?
You are behind a firewall?
