Sorry, but they are not the same, and discrepancies are not necessarily breakage. The LDAP group is used for granting karma, not for determining PMC membership. I can see that it might sometimes be necessary for karma to be granted to non-PMC members and vice-versa. In fact we had a case in the last year or two where a PMC member asked to be removed from the LDAP group for a short while.
