Sounds reasonable, but just a thought:  Are the changes in trunk sufficient to 
warrant a new major release?   Are there major structural or compatibility 
issues between 4.0 and trunk?  - it doesn’t strike me that there are    How 
about 4.0.0 going to 4.0.1 and trunk becoming 4.1.0-SNAPSHOT?   I.e. a new 
feature release... when it comes.
