The common case is that a user just typoed a function. So to get a log about no user defined functions would be confusing. I would just expect to see the SDE about "unknown function" in the expression logic and the user can figure out what happened. And if the user did expect the UDF to exist, but got the "unknown function" error, one of the above warnings would likely be displayed and explain why it was ignored. Related, it could potentially be helpful to add a Debug/info log that lists all the UDF's that were loaded.
