I really and sincerely see no need for an extra email list to discuss what already is discussed in the distribution list. More junk mail to an already busy monitor. (The google group only accepts mail from existing members, whereas this mailing list often serves as an email address where new site admins send queries/information) Advantages of the google group I can see: * Members can follow the discussions as a forum, mailing list, or both. * Posts are only accepted from registered members of the group (no spam) * Past archives can easily be searched Disadvantages: * Members must sign up for a google account (reasonably easy, requires only email address & password) * Helping google to conquer the world * Silly google text ads down the side if group is viewed as a forum (although these are not half as annoying as most banner ads) Please post your comments and whether or not you would like this to become the main distro-dev communication platform.
