And any half decent email client will keep them threaded too... As I recall, 
Outlook Express and Eudora (version 5)Certainly did, and I haven't used 
either since 1999. If they could do it then, they should be able to do it now 
(and I would expect better). Pegasus Mail also does threading (I've looked at 
it, but never used it seriously). But in each case, it's all in the 
configuration - you have to tell them to sort mail by thread.

Under Linux it's even easier. KMail and Evolution both do threading by 
default.

Cross platform, I'd guess that Thunderbird and derivatives also support 
threading by default.
