I agree. Whenever I visit Office Depot or such chain outlets, they all have an extensive line of Avery products. The question then should then be directed to where to assign the default, not discontinuing Avery support.

I have been thinking about this over the holiday season and have come to
the conclusion that this is wrong. I mean Avery does not support our
project so why should we offer their label formats as the default. I
would like to see OOo offer label formats from companies that actually
do support us. For example, Worldlabel.com, not only offers labels that
are compatible but also has supported us financially with the contest.
So what do you think? I am asking here to get some idea about pursuing
this further.

The fact is that Avery labels are available worldwide. Avery is some kind of a monopoly in the label area. Though not everyone use Avery labels, many label companies use to use a Avery correspondence for their products. Therefore, providing Avery label references probably helps much, should we actually use Avery or not.

As for better supporting the ones who support us, I fully agree. WorldLabel is a company I have never heard about, but using noname labels myself, my comment might be taken with a grain of salt.
