Is it posible to get a server for plone-test-instance? Inside
Plone it is also posible to use a wiki (Zwiki) if necessary.
I don't know if it's a good idea to fork from the rest of
the wiki. We'd need to have resources to maintain our
own version of the CMS with all consequences.
I don't want to split the wiki. I think - also there is a way
for a wiki inside plone - this is not necessary for the work
with documentation. The functions of that framework are good
enough to produce and translate documentations (from faq to
tutorial or book). The members of OOoAuthors used and proved it
since a longer time ;-)
If I understand you correctly, you're saying that we shouldn't
be using the wiki at all for docs but a CMS like plone instead.

only because it is easier to get the content inside the CMS and get also without much afford a printable version (pdf).

For book-type documentation you're right. But books are
soooo 20th century ;-)

How about FAQs, modular Howtos...more modular and straightforward
stuff, would that remain on the wiki. Meaning, should we use a
"real" CMS just for authoring more advanced documents (like books)?
Or would that system be used or all of it?

But the wiki is also very well suited for publishing that
content. It's instant production. Working with plone would
probably raise the bar for contributing again.

I don't actually see why the use of plone instead of the wiki the bar of contributing raises. If I want to contribute inside the wiki I had to get an account (same in plone). Then I had to learn the special tags of mediawiki, if I want to structure my documentation (without a structure it would be a dessert). There is actual no menubar for formating. Inside a CMS like plone you get this menubar, looking similar to a menubar in your office suite ;-)

Apart from that, we don't have a plone implemented inside OOo,
and we would need to set something up and maintain it.

That's right. I don't know if this is an real option.

I am curious, I'll ask Jean, if I can get an account on OOoAuthors
and play with it (is there a playground on OOoAuthors?).
