I was able to do the build with maven 3.3.9 (after doing 'brew install maven'). Here are my env variables related to maven: M2_HOME=/usr/local/Cellar/maven/3.3.9/libexec M2=/usr/local/Cellar/maven/3.3.9/libexec/bin MAVEN_OPTS=-Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
