Karaf has been brought into the Felix TLP nearly one year ago.
Things have not been too bad, but I still see the karaf community as
being very disjoint from the other felix community, as it looks that none
of the existing felix committers did really get involved in Karaf. I
really
don't blame anyone, i think it's just that the interest are not the same
(not sure
where they actually diverge though).
I don't really see what benefit Karaf would have in continuing being part of
Felix, so
I'd like to open the discussion about moving it to a TLP.

I'd say the biggest benefits are the additional oversight and a bigger community getting to listen and respond to any OSGi-related issues that were encountered.

Ultimately, perhaps, the Felix community is more geared toward creating general building blocks rather than trying to create an overarching effort to integrate those building blocks for a specific purpose. Creating such OSGi-related building blocks was the goal of the original project proposal and is a reason why I try to push for getting general OSGi-related building blocks into Felix.

Overall, I think things have gone well, but if the people directly involved with Karaf want to take it TLP, then I support that decision. We'll still continue to collaborate through the building blocks.
