Agreed! And I have tried the Adobe Scout on my retina MacBook 13inch(gpu built in the cpu), I test a basic Flex Desktop app at both 24fps and 60fps, direct renderMode both perform better, and this is just a quick test.
at 24fps, direct renderMode doesn't lose one frame, cpu renderMode slightly worse get around 20fps. at 60fps, what's interesting is, direct renderMode get about 30fps which may caused by the not-so-powerful gpu. but cpu renderMode only get around half the fps of direct renderMode. I will guess that direct renderMode would perform even better with a more powerful gpu. Hope somebody else can give it a try. I use FB4.7 + apache flex 4.10 + AIR 3.8 on Mac OS 10.8.4 and my test method is just resize the app window like madly.
