Hi,

It has been many years since the Installer was first released and lots of
things and people have changed at Adobe. It turns out that the new people
in place at Adobe want us to make changes to the text used in the
Installer and other scripts that ask the user to accept Adobe licenses
before downloading playerglobal.swc and the Adobe AIR SDK. So, I will
start finding time to make some changes to our install scripts. The
changes will need to be reviewed and approved by folks at Adobe.

This may result in a new Installer release. While AntOnAIR lets us
control the strings from .properties files in the release packages, I
don't know if Adobe will also want us to change strings in the Installer
code that services old Apache Flex release. So folks who have changes
they want to see in the Installer should start thinking about that soon.
IIRC, we should switch the Installer to use a different mirror selection
script when we do a new release. I know some folks have had problems with
the Installer and proxies. Is there something we can do about that?

Similarly, Maven for Apache Flex has or will have similar license
acceptance interactions that will also need to be approved, but I have
received tentative permission for Maven scripts to install the standalone
Flash Player Debugger after getting license approval from the user, and
also for the Adobe AIR runtime. Again, Adobe will need to review and
approve the license interactions.

So, if you see me mucking around in there, you now know why.

Thanks,
-Alex
