How did you cut the latest patch v5? What commands did you use? I guess it was something like 'svn diff ... > GERONIMO-2161-v5.patch', wasn't it? If so and the changes are part of a branch (e.g. svkmerge/m2migration), we (testers) could apply it to our local Geronimo srcs using 'svn merge' nor 'patch' that we've just found is incompatible. This way we will use svn commands only and be able to apply and test it.
