Regarding my previous questions about what could be done with the bits: http://harmony.markmail.org/search/?q=p_j_anderson%40volny.cz
Can Harmony's VM be made into something that won't infringe any patents, implements a widely-supported flavour of bytecode, and can run some useful languages - and can be a base for a better C#/Java type language in the future? Will Harmony's existing class library implementation be useful as a temporary base to do this? As an optimist I'd love to know that something even *better* than a JVM would come out of Harmony as a result of all this. ----- PŮVODNÍ ZPRÁVA ----- Od: chris.g...@k-embedded-java.com Komu: dev@harmony.apache.org Předmět: Re: Rebooting the Harmony project Datum: 14.3.2011 - 23:04:33 > > [David Beberman] > > We are a commercial JVM as well, Aicas. > > Not sure that is relevant for this discussion > > though. > > > Kind of hard to tell what would be relevant to a > discussion of this type. > Maybe OP meant to say, "whilst there are at least > a dozen implementations > of the Java VM there is currently only one of the > Parrot VM"? > > At the risk of being on-topic, I personally would > be very sorry to see > DRLVM completely orphaned - there's a bunch of > good stuff in there. > > Chris > > > > >
