How do you build on the command line from the .dsp/.dsw's?

The win_compiling.html document that Geoff referred to explains either
using Makefile.win from the command-line (which presumably requires the
.mak files), or else using the .dsp/.dsw files from the IDE. There is
no mention of how to use the .dsp/.dsw's from the command-line.

I tried using msdev.exe on the command-line with various .dsp/.dsw,
/MAKE, /USEENV options, but couldn't get anything to work.

Some instructions would be greatly appreciated if this is the way things
are done ;)
