It is a bug. When you run maven 3.0.4 with the current version, those sources
do not get compiled; no class files appear.
I've read or modified a large number of plugins that generate sources, and none
just put the packages directly in there.
Yes, it's incompatible; since it's configurable we could put the default back
as it was, or we can make noise at the next release.
